The 22nd edition of the FIFA World Cup which is also known as the 2022 FIFA World Cup, will be played between November 20, 2022, and December 18, 2022. Qatar will be the host of the tournament, and for the second time, the tournament will be hosted in an Asian country (the first being in 2002 when South Korea and Japan co-hosted). The 29-day-long event will feature 32 teams and a total of 64 matches will be played across 8 different stadiums in Qatar.
Generally, FIFA World Cups are organized during the June-July months, however, due to adverse weather conditions in Qatar during those months, the tournament will be held during the November-December months. During the 2022 FIFA World Cup, 32 teams will take part, these teams except host Qatar will be selected after qualifying for the tournament through the qualification process. These teams will be divided into 8 groups of 4 teams each. The tournament will be played in two stages, one will be a group stage which will be in round-robin format while the next stage will be the knockout stage which will be played in a single-elimination format.
