The 2022 FIFA World Cup is scheduled from November 20, 2022, to December 18, 2022. The Arabic nation Qatar is the host of the tournament. A total of 32 teams will take part in the competition wherein 64 matches will be played over a period of 29 days across 8 stadiums in 5 different cities in Qatar. The competition format of the 2022 FIFA World Cup is such that a total of 64 matches will be played over a period of 29 days. These matches will be played in two stages, one being the group stage and the second being the knockout stage. For the Group stage, all the 32 teams that will be taking part in the competition will be divided into 8 groups of 4 teams each and each team in a group will face the other three teams of the group. Accordingly, 48 matches will be played in the group stage and based on the performance of the teams during the group stage, the top two teams from each group will advance to play in the knockout stage. A total of 16 matches will be played during the knockout stage and the format will be single-elimination i.e. team losing any match will be out of contention to win the trophy.
